With its striking and beautiful silhouette resembling an inverted bowl, Mount Omuro stands as a landmark of Ito City at an elevation of approximately 580 meters. It is a nationally designated natural monument that has garnered global attention as part of a UNESCO Global Geopark. To protect the mountain’s environment, climbing on foot is prohibited; however, a six-minute aerial stroll on a chairlift offers a refreshing experience, with a carpet of seasonal wildflowers unfolding beneath your feet as the view opens up during your ascent.
At the summit, a one-kilometer walking trail known as “Ohachi Meguri” circles the crater rim, offering a continuous series of “Unseen” spectacular views—a 360-degree panorama encompassing Mount Fuji, the Izu Islands, and the Sagami Sea. Beyond the breathtaking scenery, the mountain offers deep experiences that recharge visitors with the energy of nature, such as authentic archery at the bottom of the crater and visits to spiritual sites like Sengen Shrine. Discover a special moment where the sky, sea, and earth merge, while experiencing up close the smooth and beautiful slopes preserved by the traditional “Yamayaki” (mountain burning) ceremony held every February.
